What voters need to know
Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time in both time zones (SDCL 12-2-3), and no polling place may close until everyone who arrived before closing time has had time to vote. Absentee ballots must reach the county election official on Election Day in time to be delivered to the voter's precinct before the polls close, and ballots delivered after the polls close are not counted; this is a receipt deadline, not a postmark deadline.
