When do the clocks go back?
The clocks go back one hour at 2am on Sunday 25 October 2026, to 1am, when British Summer Time (BST) ends and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) begins. You get an extra hour in bed.
What to do
- Phones, computers and smart watches change on their own.
- Set ovens, microwaves, car clocks and wall clocks back one hour before bed on Saturday night.
- Sunrise and sunset come an hour earlier by the clock, so it gets dark in the late afternoon.
- Kick-off times on Where's It On are in UK time and stay right through the change: football on TV, all sport.
The US and Europe
The US changes a week later, on Sunday 1 November, so from 25 October to 1 November the UK is four hours ahead of New York instead of five: NFL games and US TV are an hour earlier in UK time. US daylight saving time
Ireland changes at the same moment as the UK, and so does the rest of Europe (at 1am GMT), so France, Germany and Spain stay an hour ahead.
