The rule
NYSE ('All NYSE markets observe U.S. holidays as listed') and Nasdaq close for New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington's Birthday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and trade normally on Columbus Day and Veterans Day. Saturday holidays are observed the Friday before and Sunday holidays the Monday after, except that NYSE observes no New Year's Day holiday when Jan. 1 falls on a Saturday (2028). Core session 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. ET. Early closes are 1:00 p.m. ET (1:15 p.m. for eligible options) and are listed date by date: NYSE lists Nov. 27, 2026, Dec. 24, 2026, Nov. 26, 2027, July 3, 2028 and Nov. 24, 2028 – none on any Dec. 31, none on Fri. July 2, 2027 and none on Thu. Dec. 23, 2027. NYSE has published 2026-2028; Nasdaq's own calendar shows only 2026 so far, and its 2026 dates match NYSE's exactly.
