When do polls close in Iowa?
Polls in Iowa close at 8:00 PM CST (9:00 PM ET) on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
What voters need to know
Iowa law opens the polls at 7 a.m. and closes them at 8 p.m., and every voter on the polling-place premises at closing time must be allowed to vote. Absentee ballots must be received by the county auditor before the polls close at 8 p.m. on Election Day; a postmark does not extend that deadline.
