What voters need to know
By default, Kansas's Central-time counties vote 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the Secretary of State says all voters in line when polls close are allowed to vote; state law lets a county set different hours ending as late as 8 p.m. Central, but no county was found documenting a later close for Nov. 3. In the four Mountain-time counties, Greeley and Hamilton list 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mountain (9 p.m. ET) for Nov. 3, while Sherman and Wallace could not be confirmed; state law sets their default close at 6 p.m. Mountain (8 p.m. ET) and caps any change at 7 p.m. Mountain. A 2025 law (SB 4) requires mail ballots to arrive by the close of polls, but under a statewide court injunction that the Kansas Court of Appeals refused to stay for the general election, ballots postmarked by Election Day that arrive by the last postal delivery on Friday, Nov. 6 must be counted.
