What voters need to know
Nov. 3 is a Tuesday election, so polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and all voters in line at 8 p.m. have the right to vote. The ballot is the U.S. Senate general election plus an open primary for U.S. House and other open-primary contests; the Secretary of State lists a Saturday, Dec. 12, 2026 'Open U.S. Representative General' election (polls 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.). Voted absentee ballots must be received by the parish registrar of voters by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2 (a receipt deadline), while ballots from military, overseas and hospitalized voters are due by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
