When do polls close in Vermont?
Polls in Vermont close at 7:00 PM ET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
What voters need to know
Each town sets its own opening time between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., but every polling place closes at 7 p.m., and voters already at the polling place at closing must be given a chance to vote. Vermont automatically mails a general-election ballot to every active registered voter. To count, a voted ballot must reach your town clerk's office (in person or via the town's drop box) before the office closes on Monday, Nov. 2, arrive there by mail before the polls close at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3, or be handed in at your polling place before 7 p.m.; this is a receipt deadline, not a postmark deadline.
