When do polls close in Utah?
Polls in Utah close at 8:00 PM MST (10:00 PM ET) on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
What voters need to know
Utah votes by mail: for 2026, every active voter is still mailed a ballot automatically unless they opted out (2025's HB 300 ends automatic mailing in 2029, after which voters must request a mail ballot). The 8:00 p.m. Mountain time closing on Election Day is the deadline for ballot drop boxes and for Election Day polling places, which are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Under HB 300, a mailed ballot counts only if the county clerk receives it by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, regardless of postmark (the old rule counting ballots postmarked before Election Day was repealed; military and overseas ballots have separate rules), and state law requires that voters in line at a drop box or polling place at 8:00 p.m. be allowed to deposit their ballot or vote.
