When do polls close in North Carolina?
Polls in North Carolina close at 7:30 PM ET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
What voters need to know
Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and any voter in line at their assigned polling place at 7:30 p.m. will be able to vote. If a polling place opens late or voting there is interrupted for at least 15 minutes, the State Board of Elections may keep that site open later, for no longer than the disruption; votes cast there after 7:30 p.m. are provisional. Mail-in absentee ballots must be received by your county board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day (Nov. 3); the old three-day postmark grace period no longer applies, ballots can't be returned at a polling place on Election Day, and deadlines differ for military and overseas voters.
