Good to know
The DMV publishes its customer service center holiday schedule each January (the 2026 one runs through Veterans Day, with the end-of-year schedule to follow) and follows Virginia's state holiday calendar, which adds Election Day and the day after Thanksgiving to the federal holidays. In December 2025 the centers closed at noon on Dec. 24 and stayed closed Dec. 25 and 26. DMV Select offices, mostly run by local governments, may keep a different holiday schedule.
From the Virginia DMV's holiday list or its state's holiday schedule, checked October 7, 2026. "Expected" days follow its past practice until it announces them. Office hours · All holiday hours
