Good to know
DPS doesn't publish a holiday list for its driver license offices that we could find, so these days follow the State of Texas holiday schedule for fiscal 2027 (September 2026 through August 2027) as posted by the Comptroller; the State Auditor's Office publishes the official version. Texas doesn't move a holiday that falls on a weekend, so state offices are open Monday, July 5, 2027, and nothing is observed for Saturday, Dec. 26, 2026. Days like Texas Independence Day (March 2) are 'skeleton crew' holidays when agencies stay open with reduced staff. Driver license offices work by appointment, with a limited number of same-day slots, and many renewals and address changes can be done online at Texas.gov on any day. DPS's phone customer service center is open Monday through Friday except holidays.
