Good to know
The Secretary of State's own website blocks automated reading, so these days come from the State of Illinois holiday calendar published by Central Management Services (2026 and 2027), which Secretary of State offices observe; a local news report confirmed they closed on Columbus Day, Oct. 12, 2026. Illinois has two state holidays most states don't: Lincoln's Birthday (Feb. 12) and General Election Day in even-numbered years. Some facilities keep a Tuesday-through-Saturday week, so check the facility finder for the days around a holiday. License plate sticker renewals, address changes and other online services stay available on holidays.
From Illinois Secretary of State facilities' holiday list or its state's holiday schedule, checked October 7, 2026. "Expected" days follow its past practice until it announces them. Office hours · All holiday hours
