Good to know
The California DMV posts one list of the days all its offices close. For 2026 that is New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Farmworkers Day (March 31), Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas, plus New Year's Day 2027. Election Day, Juneteenth, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve aren't on it, and no weekday was added for July 4, 2026, which fell on a Saturday. The DMV says its offices are closed on weekends. Many renewals can be done through the DMV's online services or at a self-service kiosk without visiting an office.
