Good to know
Academy announces its Thanksgiving closure and 5 AM Black Friday opening each November in a news release; the 2026 release hadn't been found as of Oct. 13, 2026. The 2023 release (https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/academy-sports--outdoors-makes-holiday-shopping-easy-with-unbeatable-black-friday-deals-and-convenient-shopping-options-301979665.html) called the Thanksgiving closure a longstanding tradition and gave Black Friday hours of 5 AM to 11 PM; CBS News also listed Academy as closed on Thanksgiving 2019 (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/thanksgiving-day-what-stores-will-be-open-and-closed-retailers-2019/). Academy's website and store locator refused automated access, so store pages weren't checked, and its releases send shoppers to academy.com for its other holiday hours. No source we could use gave hours for Christmas, New Year's or the other days.
From Academy Sports + Outdoors' announcements and store pages, and news reports of its hours, checked October 7, 2026. "Expected" days follow its past practice until it announces them. Store hours · All holiday hours
